Scott reflected on the creation of the Mr. Olympia. It was a Sunday afternoon, September, 1964. Larry had just won the coveted IFBB Mr. Universe title and was about to have a celebratory dinner with Joe Weider.
In the last instalment, we discussed how Larry and Joe Weider conceived the idea of the Mr. Olympia competition way back in September 1964. Larry had just won Mr. Universe and felt like Alexander The Great with no new worlds to conquer.
“So one Mr. Olympia was over.” Scott told us. “I was thrilled to have won this competition and getting a win over Poole and Maynard, two of the very best bodybuilders in the world. Some very weird things happened afterwards.”
